Lt Gen David S. Fadok is Commander and President, The Air University, Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala. He provides full spectrum education, research, and outreach at every level through professional military education, professional continuing education, and academic degree granting. He leads The Intellectual and Leadership Center of the Air Force, graduating more than 50,000 resident and 120,000 non-resident officers, enlisted, and civilian personnel each year. A distinguished graduate of the US Air Force Academy in 1982, General Fadok completed graduate studies as a Rhodes Scholar before earning his pilot wings in 1985. A command pilot with more than 4,000 hours, he previously commanded at the squadron, group, and wing levels. He flew combat and combat support missions in operations Just Cause, Desert Shield, Desert Storm, and Southern Watch. The general was the 1988 recipient of the Secretary of the Air Force Leadership Award, a distinguished graduate from both Squadron Officer School and Air Command and Staff College, and a National Defense Fellow. Our program was presented by William Canary, president and CEO of the Business Council of Alabama. The BCA is the leading voice in Alabama for businesses, their employees, and related constituencies. Mr. Canary shared with the club a set of numbers that he thinks about often in terms of the BCA’s mission of growing business and encouraging an environment of ethics, job creation, and education reform. These included: 124, the number of Chambers of Commerce in the state; 750,000, the number of people employed by BCA members statewide; 61,923, the third grade student population in the state; 40%, the high school dropout rate; $6 billion, the total annual investment and economic impact of BCA members in the state. |

Our program was presented by Stefanie Hicks, co-anchor of the 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. news on WAKA CBS 8. Ms. Hicks spoke to the club about her 11-year career in television broadcasting, and some of the changes that have taken place in the news media in general. |

On Tuesday, April 17, 2012 the Montgomery Rotary Club and the Montgomery Sunrise Rotary Club presented checks Montgomery Area Council on Aging's Archibald Senior Center. The money was used to install new air conditioning at the senior center. (pictured from left to right: MRC President Rick Pate, Vice Pres. Rick Heinzman, Martin Mayer with MACOA, Past Pres. Heather Coleman, MSC President John Craft, Alan Wallace, Wayne Simms, Anne Simms and Rick Heinzman.) The new air conditioning units are $6,000. Montgomery Rotary Club President Rick Pate and Montgomery Sunrise Rotary Club President John Craft each presented checks for $2,000 to Montgomery Area Council on Aging (MACOA) Executive Director Rick Heinzman. The remaining $2,000 cost was covered by a grant from Rotary District 6880. |
