Our program was presented by William Canary, president and CEO of the Business Council of Alabama. The BCA is the leading voice in Alabama for businesses, their employees, and related constituencies. Mr. Canary shared with the club a set of numbers that he thinks about often in terms of the BCA’s mission of growing business and encouraging an environment of ethics, job creation, and education reform. These included: 124, the number of Chambers of Commerce in the state; 750,000, the number of people employed by BCA members statewide; 61,923, the third grade student population in the state; 40%, the high school dropout rate; $6 billion, the total annual investment and economic impact of BCA members in the state. |
